Richmond Hill Cupping & Gua Sha
A combination of traditional practices designed to increase blood flow, release tension and help with chronic pain and muscle tightness.
DETAILS
Both of these treatments are intended to increase blood flow, improve lymphatic drainage and balance the flow of energy in the body, but they do so in different ways.
Cupping involves creating a vacuum inside glass cups placed strategically on the body. Doing so helps break up adhesions within muscle fibers, stimulate blood flow and facilitate healing through the removal of toxins. This technique usually leaves circular marks on the skin that last several days.
Gua Sha, which can be roughly translated as “scrape” and “rash,” is an intense process that involves the (sometimes painful) scraping of specific areas of the body, and is designed to address chronic pain, extreme muscle tightness, or musculoskeletal injuries. Similar to cupping, this process is likely to relieve pain through the increase in blood flow throughout the body, helping to clear toxins and reduce inflammation.
